Scope of Services
ALEXANDER & ASSOCIATES, LTD. was engaged by the Dickens Place Condominium Association to perform roof consulting services in 2006. Their goal was to replace their faulty roof membrane and transform an inefficient roof deck into a functional gathering place for residents of the building. They looked to ALEXANDER & ASSOCIATES, LTD. to provide them with information on a conventional roof system as well as a green roof system, using sustainable technologies. The Association chose a green roof system and opted for the use of native plantings in movable planters. Cedar was chosen for the wood deck material because of its low maintenance requirements and non-toxic chemicals. Incorporating two decks with connecting walkways, the space is divided into separate zones for parties and relaxation while overlooking the perimeter gardens.
