Scope of Services
Originally built in the 1920's, this landmark terra cotta and brick apartments hotel building was previously used as housing for the elderly. When ownership fell upon hard times and was unable to meet financial obligations, the property was taken over by the DEPARTMENT OF HOUSING & URBAN DEVELOPMENT (HUD). ALEXANDER & ASSOCIATES, LTD. was called upon to evaluate the condition of the exterior walls after several large sections of the brick masonry fell onto the sidewalk.
Additionally, ALEXANDER & ASSOCIATES, LTD. was called upon to evaluate the condition of the windows and provide recommendations for replacement.
Both projects included preliminary evaluation of exterior wall brick, terra cotta, limestone, sealant and glazing from a moveable scaffold. This preliminary work was followed by the preparation of repair drawings and specifications. Services also included bid solicitations, evaluation of bids received and recommendations for contract award.
