Scope of Services
The condominium association asked ALEXANDER & ASSOCIATES, LTD to develop a plan for repairing and restoring their brick parapet walls. The condition of these walls had deteriorated over time and many were leaning and in need of tuckpointing. In addition, the steel plates supporting the brick above the windows on the south and west elevations were rusting and distorting the masonry walls above. ALEXANDER & ASSOCIATES, LTD developed details and specifications to repair these and to evaluate the condition of the existing steel beams above the windows for soundness. In addition to these two walls, the scope included rebuilding of the parapet wall around an internal lightwell as well as tuckpointing mechanical penthouses and the north parapet wall. The work is complicated by the presence of telecommunications equipment located on the roof.
