Scope of Services
Built in the early 1970's, this large townhouse complex had been having leakage and blow-off problems with the wood siding. The eaves, gutters and downspouts were also problematic. ALEXANDER & ASSOCIATES, LTD. was called upon to evaluate the feasibility of vinyl siding vs. aluminum and to prepare design sketches of each townhouse type. Numerous meetings were held with the Board and the entire Association to establish design approach and color schemes.
Following the preparation of design sketches, construction drawings and specifications were completed and the project was sent out for proposals from siding installation contractors. The bids were then reviewed and a recommendation for contract award was made.
Construction began with the re-siding of the five prototype buildings located along Knollwood Drive. These prototypes were then fine-tuned and finalized. The vinyl siding used was “Monogram”, “Mainstreet” and “Cedar Impressions”, all by CertainTeed Corporation. The eaves and aluminum wrap of fascias and trim was by Reynolds Metals Company.
